Early Life and Education

Born on October 10, 1971, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Aydan Karibzhanov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in 1994, specializing in international economic relations.

Early Career (1992-1996)

Karibzhanov began his career in 1992 as a consultant at the State Committee on Property Management. From 1993 to 1996, he worked as an intern and consultant at Credit Commercial de France in Paris and Moscow, later becoming the bank's representative in Kazakhstan.

Rise in the Financial Sector (1995-2004)

In 1995, Karibzhanov became Deputy General Director of Global Kazkommerts Securities. He was promoted to First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Global Kazkommerts Investment Bank in 1997 and became Managing Director of Kazkommertsbank in 1998.

Visor Investment Solutions and National Positions (2001-2008)

In 2001, Karibzhanov became Managing Director of Visor Investment Solutions, Holding New Frontiers, and Visor Holding. He also served as Managing Director of Economics and Finance at KazMunaiGas from January 2004.

Presidency of Visor Holding and Other Roles (2005-2011)

From 2005 to 2007, Karibzhanov was President of Visor Holding, Visor Investment Solutions, and Chairman of the Board of Visor Capital. In 2008, he became Acting General Director of Samruk Invest and Managing Director of Samruk-Kazyna.

Executive Roles at Samruk-Kazyna (2009-2012)

Karibzhanov held various executive roles at Samruk-Kazyna from 2009 to 2012, including Managing Director and Member of the Management Board. He was also Deputy Chairman of the Management Board from May 2011 to January 2012.

VISOR Holding and Other Investments (2012-Present)

Since 2012, Karibzhanov has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of VISOR Holding. He also holds several other board positions, including at Kazakhtelecom, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan, and KazTransOil.

Personal Life

Karibzhanov is married to Makpal Kanapiyevna Karibzhan. They have four children: Yasmin (b. 1998), Iman-Aimek (b. 2001), Zhan (b. 1994), and another son born in 2010. As of 2017, Karibzhanov was in the process of divorce.
