Early Career and Debut

Finnish skier, a four-time world champion, made her World Cup debut on March 7, 1998, and competed in the 1999 Junior World Championships in Saalfelden. She joined the World Cup and other senior competitions regularly in 2000. In 2001, she made her debut at the World Championships in Lahti.

Breakthrough and World Cup Success

In 2003, she earned her first World Cup podium finish with a bronze in the relay (Nové Město na Moravě), followed by her first World Cup victory in 2005 in the relay in Falun. She competed in the World Championships in 2003 (Val di Fiemme) and 2005 (Oberstdorf).

Olympic Bronze and World Championships Dominance

At the 2006 Turin Olympics, she won a bronze medal in the team sprint with Virpi Kuitunen. Her most successful year came in 2007, when she won the world championship in the relay in Sapporo (with Kuitunen, Riitta-Liisa Roponen, and Pirjo Manninen).

Historic Triple Gold and Multiple Medals

At the 2009 World Championships in Liberec, she achieved remarkable success, winning three gold medals in the 10km, team sprint (with Kuitunen), and relay (with Pirjo Muranen, Kuitunen, and Roponen), along with a bronze in the duathlon. She finished third in the overall World Cup standings for 2008/09.

Olympic Double Bronze and Continued Success

At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, she earned two bronze medals in the 30km and relay (with Muranen, Kuitunen, and Roponen). As of the end of February 2010, she held the third position in the overall World Cup standings for 2009/10. Throughout her career, she has accumulated over 30 podium finishes in World Cup events.
