A Life of Courage: Asif Akperov, National Hero of Azerbaijan
Early Life and Education:Asif Akperov was born on February 2, 1952, in the village of Baland in Azerbaijan's Jabrayil district. After completing his secondary education in Beylagan in 1970, he enlisted in the military.
Law Enforcement Career:
Following his military service, Akperov joined the Beylagan Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1974. As a police officer, he demonstrated exceptional bravery and dedication.
The Nagorno-Karabakh War: A Call to Arms
When the Nagorno-Karabakh War erupted, Akperov was among a group of police officers from Beylagan who were deployed to the Sariyar village in Kelbajar district on August 5, 1991.
The Battle of Sariyar: A Final Act of Valor
In a fierce six-hour battle, Akperov played a key role in defending his comrades. His exceptional bravery and determination inspired his fellow officers. However, in a tragic turn of events, Akperov was killed in the line of duty.
Legacy of a Hero
Akperov left behind a legacy of courage and sacrifice. He was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan for his bravery in the face of overwhelming odds. He is survived by his wife and two children, who carry on his memory with pride.
