Childhood and Education

Born on February 11, 1964, in the Vinnytsia region of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tereshenko's early life took place in a rural setting. In 1991, he graduated from the Kyiv Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, marking a significant step in his academic journey.

Early Career at the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Tereshenko began his career in law enforcement in June 1984 as a militia officer at the Khrystynivka station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Over the next decade, he rose through the ranks, holding positions such as Senior Inspector of Prevention for the Lenin district and Senior Inspector in the Department for Leading District Militia Inspectors.

Advancement in the Kyiv City Police

In September 1995, Tereshenko joined the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv as a Senior Inspector for Juvenile Affairs, marking a turning point in his career. He held various positions within the department, including Senior Operative Officer, Deputy Head of the Personnel Training Department, and Deputy Head of the Personnel Department.

Leadership Positions in Kyiv's District Police

From October 2005 to January 2008, Tereshenko served as the Head of the Pechersk District Police Department, overseeing a key district of the capital. Subsequently, he became the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Police Department, responsible for personnel provision. He then held the position of Head of the Holosiivskyi District Police Department from March 2010 to June 2012.

National Roles and Head of Kyiv Police

In June 2012, Tereshenko was appointed Head of the Department for Combating Drug Trafficking within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. This role was followed by his tenure as Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Volyn region from November 2012 to July 2014.

On July 22, 2014, Tereshenko was promoted to Head of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv City, a position he held until his dismissal on June 5, 2015. However, President Petro Poroshenko subsequently annulled Tereshenko's dismissal on July 3, lifting his suspension from duty.

Post-Kyiv Police Career

In April 2017, Tereshenko became the First Deputy Chairman of the Odesa Regional State Administration, serving in this role until October 29, 2018. His final public office came as the Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration from October 30, 2018, until June 11, 2019.
