Education and Early Career

In 1995, Serdar Berdimuhamedov graduated with a law degree from the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan. He began his career in 1986 as a police officer in the administrative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Training and Teaching

From 1991 to 1992, Berdimuhamedov attended the Special Secondary School of Police of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow. He then studied at the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan from 1992 to 1993. In 1993, he became an acting instructor in the Special Disciplines Department of the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Rise in Ministry of Internal Affairs

In 1995, Berdimuhamedov was appointed inspector in the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He rose through the ranks, becoming Deputy Head of the Ahal Velayat Police Department for Personnel Selection and Placement in 1997. In 2004, he was promoted to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Minister of Internal Affairs

On December 9, 2004, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan. However, on April 9, 2007, he was dismissed due to "serious shortcomings in his work, inability to lead the ministry entrusted to him, insufficient discipline among subordinates, and a weakening of discipline among them."

Honors

In 2006, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was awarded the Order of "Turkmenbashi."
