Biography of Alan Hugh Dale

Alan Hugh Dale was born in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand. Despite growing up in a relatively poor family, he had a happy childhood and developed a passion for theater and rugby. His family owned a small amateur theater in Auckland, where young Dale often helped with stage equipment.

At the age of 21, Alan embarked on a series of different professions to support himself and his family. He worked as a male model, car salesman, real estate agent, and milkman. However, his true calling was acting.

Upon hearing about an upcoming audition on the radio, Alan immediately went to the station. He was initially accepted on a trial basis and later signed an official contract, securing his first television role and solidifying his desire to become a professional actor.

Due to limited opportunities in New Zealand, he quickly relocated to Australia. From 1979 to 1982, Alan portrayed Dr. John Forrest in the television series "The Young Doctors". He also spent eight years playing the role of Jim Robinson in the show "Neighbours". His character was a classic representation of an Australian (or British) man. However, he left the series after disagreements with the producers over his salary.

For a while, Alan struggled to find a similar role but eventually found success in 2000 when he moved to the United States. He appeared in several well-known television shows, including "The O.C.", "Ugly Betty", "Lost", "24", "NCIS", "ER", "The West Wing", "The X-Files", "The Lone Gunmen", and "Torchwood". Additionally, he had roles in movies such as "Star Trek Nemesis", "Hollywood Homicide", and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".

In addition to his television and film work, Dale has also performed in various stage productions. He has been married to former Miss Australia, Tracy Pearson, since 1990, and they have four children together.
