Early Life and Musical EducationBorn in the village of Olkhovka in the Donbas region of Ukraine, this Ukrainian composer's early life was marked by hardship. His father was repressed, leaving his mother to raise their children alone while working in a mine.
In pursuit of his musical dreams, he enrolled in the Lugansk Musical College, studying both wind instruments and composition. He later continued his studies at the Kyiv Conservatory under the esteemed Professor N. N. Vilinsky and attended lectures by prominent composers such as L. N. Revutsky and B. N. Lyatoshynsky.
Teaching and Mentorship
Upon graduating from the conservatory, the composer returned to the Donbas, where he took up a teaching position at the Donetsk Musical College in 1956. His tenure there included establishing a composition department and an elective program.
He also held the position of music director for the Donbass Shakhter Ensemble of Song and Dance from 1956 to 1960. From 1963 to 1964, he worked as a sound engineer for Donetsk Television Studio.
