Italian Formula One Racing Career

Beginnings in Formula 3 and Formula 2

Born in Italy, the ambitious auto racer embarked on his professional journey in Formula 3 in 1974, securing a remarkable victory in the Italian championship. This triumph propelled him into the European Formula 2 championship the following year.

While his initial two seasons in Formula 2 yielded only a modest two points, the 1977 season marked a significant turning point. The driver achieved six point-scoring finishes, including an impressive third-place result at the German Grand Prix. He ultimately finished the championship in seventh place.

Formula 1 Debut and Setbacks

In 1978, the racer ascended to Formula 1 with the ATS team but faced challenges in qualifying for races. He attempted to start in two Grand Prix but failed to make the grid. Undeterred, he tried again later in the season with the Merzario team but once again failed to qualify.

Return to Formula 2 and Retirement

Despite his Formula 1 setbacks, the driver continued to compete in Formula 2 until 1980. However, after several seasons without major success, he decided to retire from racing and focus on managing his own racing team.
