Early Life and Education

Alberto Fernández was born on April 2, 1959, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He obtained his law degree from the University of Buenos Aires at the age of 24 and subsequently became a professor of criminal law there.

Early Political Career

Fernández's political journey began with non-elected positions in the Buenos Aires Council, the National Chamber of Deputies, and the Ministry of Economy. During this time, he developed a close relationship with former Buenos Aires governor Eduardo Duhalde.

Head of the Cabinet of Ministers

On July 25, 2003, Fernández was appointed as the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers under President Néstor Kirchner. He held this position throughout Kirchner's presidency and served again under President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner from 2007 until his resignation in July 2008.

Factions and Alliances

In 2018, Fernández became a leader within the non-Kirchnerist Peronist sector, advocating for an alliance with Kirchnerism as a unified force against Macrism.

Presidential Candidacy and Election

On May 18, 2019, former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced Fernández as the presidential candidate for the "Frente de Todos" coalition in the 2019 presidential election. He secured a victory in the first round, obtaining 48.24% of the votes, defeating incumbent President Mauricio Macri.

Personal Life

Fernández married Marcela Luchetti in 1993, and they had one son, Estanislao, before separating in 2005. Since 2014, he has been in a relationship with journalist and actress Fabiola Yañez, who has served as Argentina's First Lady since 2019. Fernández is an avid supporter of the football club Argentinos Juniors.

Creative Expression

Beyond politics, Fernández has developed a creative side as a musician and songwriter, playing both acoustic and electric guitar. His influences include Argentine national rock and artists such as Litto Nebbia and Bob Dylan.
