Early CareerBrazilian defender Alex began his professional career with Esporte Clube Vitória in Salvador. He later played for FC Schalke 04 in Germany and Santos FC in Brazil.
Arrival in Europe
In 2004, Alex was acquired by Chelsea FC in England. However, he was immediately loaned to SL Benfica in Portugal. He spent the 2007/2008 season at PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he helped the team win the Dutch Eredivisie title.
Ukrainian Chapter
In August 2008, Alex signed a four-year contract with FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine. He made his Ukrainian Premier League debut on September 1, 2008, against FC Metalist Kharkiv.
Career Decline and Scandals
After 2008, Alex's playing time diminished significantly. He was involved in numerous scandals, with allegations of disruptive behavior and a lack of professionalism.
Return to Brazil
On March 13, 2013, Alex joined Náutico. However, his tenure was marred by a fight with a teammate during training and a self-inflicted penalty in his first match.
