Biography of Aldair

Aldair is a Brazilian footballer and a defender who was part of the Brazilian national team that won the World Cup in 1994. He started his career playing for the club Flamengo, where he won the most important title in Brazil and became a champion. In 1989, he moved to Europe and joined Benfica, winning the Portuguese Super Cup and reaching the final of the European Champions Cup in his only season with the Eagles.

In 1990, Aldair transferred to the Italian club Roma and remained with the team until 2003. He played almost 400 matches in Serie A, also serving as the captain of the Rome club. During his time in Rome, he won the Italian Cup in 1991 and reached the final of the UEFA Cup in the same season. In 2001, he became the champion of Italy and won the Super Cup of the country.

When Aldair left the team in 2003, Roma retired the number 6 jersey that he wore. However, this decision was not permanent, and Kevin Strootman took up the number when he joined the team in 2013.
