Aldo Boffi: The Prolific Goal Scorer
Early Life and CareerAldo Boffi, an Italian footballer, was born on 26th February 1915 in Giussano. His football journey began with the youth team of Vis Nova, competing in the third tier of Italian football. In 1935, Serie B club Seregno acquired his services.
Rise to Prominence
Despite Seregno's relegation to Serie C the following year, Boffi emerged as a prolific scorer, netting 20 goals in Serie B and topping the scoring charts in Serie C a year later. His impressive performances attracted attention from top Serie A clubs, including Milan, Fiorentina, and Bologna.
Joining AC Milan
After lengthy negotiations, Seregno president Umberto Trabattoni agreed to Milan's offer, much to Boffi's delight as Milan was close to his hometown. He made his debut for the Rossoneri on 1st November 1936 against Torino, although Milan endured a disappointing start to the season.
Goal-Scoring Prowess
Boffi's first season with Milan was not particularly remarkable, scoring only 8 goals. However, he soon began to excel, emerging as Serie A's top scorer on three occasions and once topping the scoring charts in the Italian Cup. Despite his impressive club form, he only made two appearances for the Italian national team, overshadowed by the likes of Silvio Piola.
Later Years
Boffi spent eight seasons with Milan, amassing 194 appearances and scoring an impressive 136 goals. Towards the end of his career, he played for Atalanta and his former club, Seregno.
