Aleksandar Kolarov is a Serbian left-back who currently plays for Italian club Roma and the Serbian national team. Known for his exceptional abilities on the field, he has made a significant impact in both club and international competitions.
Early Career and Rise to Prominence
Kolarov began his football journey at the Serbian club Čukarički in his hometown of Belgrade. In 2006, he joined another Belgrade-based club, OFK Beograd. His performances caught the attention of numerous teams, including Russian club FC Luch-Energiya Vladivostok, who attempted to sign him in 2007. However, the deal fell through, and Kolarov remained in Serbia. Despite the setback, he continued to impress for his country's youth team, earning a place in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship Team of the Tournament in 2007.
European Progression
In June 2007, Kolarov made the move to Italian side Lazio, where he quickly became a regular starter. His exceptional performances in Rome earned him a transfer to Manchester City in 2010 for a fee of £15.9 million. During his time with the Citizens, Kolarov established himself as a key member of the team, playing a crucial role in their 2011/12 Premier League title victory. He extended his contract with Manchester City in 2014 but eventually left the club in 2017.
Roma and National Team Success
