Early Life and EducationAlena Alymova, an actress of theater and cinema and a director, is a talented and devoted individual to art and creativity. Born on October 15, 1985, in Zhdanov (now Mariupol) in Ukraine, Alena comes from a family with a medical and educational background. Her mother is an emergency doctor, while her father is a history professor at a university. In her childhood, Alena dreamt of becoming a doctor like her mother and even read a large medical encyclopedia before going to bed. However, her wise parents recognized her creative potential and advised her to develop her talents in that direction. Since then, her main priorities became music and dance. She graduated from a music school, specializing in piano, and simultaneously pursued dance lessons. After finishing school, Alena Alymova became a student at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, studying in the film and television directing workshop of R.N. Shiman. She completed her studies at Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts in 2006. During her time as a student, she participated in the filming of short films and etudes by her classmates. Alena enjoyed acting and found success in it, which led her to the decision of becoming an actress. Alena Alymova began her career in film in the 2000s, but her first significant acting role came in the 90-episode series "Jamaica," filmed in Kyiv in 2012. Her character, Inga Samgina, is an eighteen-year-old daughter of wealthy parents, carefree and slightly foolish. Throughout the series, the character gains life experience and becomes wiser. One of her most memorable works is the film "Funny Fairy Tale," where she played the role of the princess of the Unfortunate Kingdom. The film was shot in Estonia, with a production team consisting of Estonian and Ukrainian participants. This heartwarming fairytale was made in the traditions of good Soviet cinema. Another popular film among viewers was "Grechanka," in which Alymova appeared alongside Olga Sumskaya, Dmitry Sova, Anton Feoktistov, Olga Grishina, Victoria Litvinenko-Yasinovskaya, Alexey Fateev, Alena Kolesnichenko, Sergey Radchenko, Victoria Bulitko, and others. In the sketch comedy "When We Are at Home," which is successful among viewers, Alymova played the role of a self-absorbed and carefree blonde manicurist, Katerina Tolmacheva. It stood out from everyday work due to the absence of boundaries and constraining factors, as well as interesting camera angles and unique editing moments. Originally, Alena planned to play the main character herself, but after revising the script, Polina Voynovich was invited to the shoot through auditions and performed excellently in the role. In addition to participating in the Odessa Film Festival in 2012, the film was showcased at the New York Film Festival in 2013, the Belgrade Film Festival, and the Kinoshok Film Festival in Anapa. However, after the EuroMaidan events in Ukraine, the film "Beautiful Woman" was removed from distribution, likely due to the fact that the main character falls in love with an image of President Viktor Yanukovych, who speaks to her from a billboard. Despite being a romantic comedy far from politics, the film fell under censorship.
Alyena Alymova's directorial works also include the short film "Lovestory," over 30 music videos for Ukrainian artists, and numerous commercials. Additionally, Alena works at the International Foundation of Friendship Among Peoples, reads widely, and practices yoga.
