Early Life and Education
Alona Shkrum was born into a family of legal professionals in Kyiv, Ukraine. Her father is a lawyer, and her mother is a professor of civil law at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Shkrum obtained degrees in international private law and French language from the Institute of International Relations at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Legal Career
Shkrum has practiced law in Ukraine and abroad. From 2008 to 2009, she worked as a junior lawyer at the Kyiv law firm "Volkov, Kozyakov and Partners." From 2010 to 2011, she worked as a lawyer in Paris at "Chevalier Pericard Connesson."
She pursued further legal studies in France and the United Kingdom. From 2010 to 2011, she completed a master's degree in international economic law at Sorbonne University in Paris. From 2011 to 2012, she obtained a master's degree in international law from the University of Cambridge, supported in part by a scholarship from the Victor Pinchuk foundation.
During her time in the United Kingdom, Shkrum gained experience in the British legal system. She worked as a judicial assistant in London High Court and interned with top barristers.
Political Career
Shkrum entered politics in 2014 when she was elected to the Ukrainian Parliament as a member of the "Batkivshchyna" party. She became the chairperson of a parliamentary subcommittee and held several leadership positions within the party.
In 2018, Russia imposed sanctions on Shkrum.
FamilyShkrum is married to Dmytro Natalukha, whom she met while studying at Cambridge. Natalukha was appointed head of the Kominternovo District State Administration in the Odesa region in 2015.
