Early Life and Education
Alesker Alekperov was born on November 15, 1910 (some sources indicate March 26) in Baku, Azerbaijan. He began his acting training at the Baku Theater Technical College (now Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts) in 1927.
Theatrical Career
Alekperov's stage debut was in 1927 at the Baku Workers' Theater (now Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater). He performed at the Tiflis Azerbaijani and Gyanja Drama Theaters from 1930 to 1933, when the Baku Workers' Theater was relocated. From 1933 until his death, Alekperov was a member of the Azerbaijan Drama Theater named after M. A. Azizbekov. His most notable roles included Othello in Shakespeare's "Othello" and Vagif in S. Vurghun's "Vagif," which he performed over 500 times.
Film Career
Alekperov's film career commenced in 1927 with his role as Hasan in "House on a Volcano" (1928). He became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1944 and was elected as a Deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.
Death and Legacy
Alesker Alekperov passed away on January 31, 1963, in Baku. He was laid to rest in the Avenue of Honor in Baku.
Family
Alekperov's wife, Okum Kuranova (1913-1988), was also an actress and received the title of People's Artist of the USSR. They had a daughter named Naila.
