Early Life and Family
Alessandro Demchenko,born in Rome, Italy, on April 24, 1973, has deep Ukrainian roots. His paternal great-grandfather, Vsevolod Y. Demchenko, graduated from the Saint Petersburg Institute of Railway Engineers and later served as a member of the 4th Imperial Duma from Kyiv. Although Alessandro's childhood did not overlap with his great-grandfather's life, who emigrated after the Bolshevik Revolution, he developed a close bond with his maternal grandfather, Boris, who yearned for his homeland and instilled in him a love for black bread.
Education and Early Interests
From a young age, Alessandro's mother, an artist, encouraged him to pursue the violin. However, he found nature and sports more captivating and ended his violin career at the age of 16, although he still enjoys playing for pleasure. At 23, he graduated from a university in Milan with a degree in design. Before embarking on his acting journey, he attended acting workshops.
Acting Career
Alessandro's acting debut came in the 2001 television series "Via Zanardi, 33" as Leo. In 2005, he made his feature film debut in the Italian comedy "Undercover" as Aldo. One of his most notable roles was in the 2008 television biopic "Coco Chanel," where he starred alongside Shirley MacLaine and Malcolm McDowell. In 2009, he appeared in the dramedy "Amore" as his namesake character. More recently, he played Emilio in the spy drama miniseries "Deutschland 89" (2020).
Personal Life
Alessandro is a private person, but glimpses into his personal life can be found through occasional interviews and social media. He has a son, Pietro, from a previous relationship. He is currently in a relationship with photographer Silvia Apice. Standing tall at 188 cm, he is an animal lover with a particular affinity for Maine Coon cats and donkeys. He is also a self-proclaimed homebody who enjoys cooking, experimenting with wines, and preparing vegetarian and seafood dishes.
Recent Projects
In 2023, Alessandro starred as Giacomo, a chef, in the Russian crime comedy "Welcome to the Family: The Chef from Naples." He also appeared in the Italo-Dutch thriller "Dark Matter," adding to his filmography that already included an Italian horror film of a similar name, "Dark Side of Witches" (2015).
