Antonio Bacca: A Renowned Italian Pianist
Early Life and EducationAntonio Bacca, an accomplished Italian pianist, embarked on his musical journey at the Conservatory of Bari under the tutelage of Angela Montemurro. He further honed his skills in France with François-Joël Thiollier and at the Accademia Chigiana with Joaquín Achúcarro. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Dallas, where he continued his studies at Southern Methodist University under the guidance of Achúcarro.
International Success
Bacca's talent and dedication culminated in a series of prestigious victories. In 1999, he triumphed at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, followed by a triumph at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2000. His exceptional performances earned him recognition at renowned music festivals such as the Aldeburgh Festival and the Verbier Festival.
Collaborative Efforts and Recordings
Beyond his solo endeavors, Bacca has collaborated with renowned musicians. Alongside his wife, pianist Lucille Chung, he recorded the complete works of György Ligeti for two pianos and four-hand piano. He also teamed up with organist Stefan Engels to produce recordings of Marcel Dupré's compositions for organ and piano. Bacca's discography encompasses acclaimed interpretations of concertos by Beethoven and Brahms.
