Biography of Alex Teixeira

Alex Teixeira, born Alex Teixeira Santos, was born on January 6, 1990, in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From a young age, Alex was passionate about football and stood out on the field among his peers. In 1999, scouts from popular club Vasco de Gama noticed him and signed him to a contract after a few joint training sessions.

Over the next nine years, Alex trained under the guidance of the club's coaches and played for the youth teams. He quickly impressed his mentors and fans, earning call-ups to represent Brazil at various youth levels. In 2005, he was invited to join the Under-15 national team and continued to play for the Under-17 team in 2006 and 2007. By 2009, Alex became a player for the Under-20 national team, although his performances were not enough to qualify for the senior team.

In 2009, Alex joined his hometown club Vasco da Gama's senior team after representing the club's youth teams. However, at the end of 2009, he was put up for sale. Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk showed the most interest in the player and successfully signed him in late December 2009 for approximately 6 million euros.

Moving to Donetsk, Alex became a star player despite the difference in the level of Ukrainian football compared to Brazil. As part of Shakhtar, he helped the club dominate Ukrainian football, winning several league titles, cup competitions, and the Ukrainian Super Cup. He played a crucial role in the team's success, contributing with both goals and assists in over 100 appearances.

In the summer of 2014, Alex found himself in the center of a football scandal. Along with two teammates, Douglas Costa and Dentinho, he left Shakhtar Donetsk's training camp, citing the danger and ongoing military actions in the country, particularly in the Donetsk region. Some players decided to stay in Europe and find new clubs after a friendly match in France. However, due to contractual issues and high transfer fees, all the players returned to Shakhtar, where they were expected to fulfill their contracts. To ensure their safety, the club temporarily relocated to Kyiv and used a stadium in Lviv as their home venue.

Overall, Alex Teixeira's career has seen him rise from a talented youth player at Vasco da Gama to a key figure in Shakhtar Donetsk's success. Despite the controversy surrounding his departure in 2014, his contributions to the team's achievements are widely recognized.
