Biography of Alexa Davalos
Alexa Davalos is an actress who was born in Paris. She can fluently speak both French and Greek, making her a French woman of Greek descent. Her mother, Eliza Davalos, is a French actress, and her father, Jeff Dunas, is a photographer. Her maternal grandfather is American actor Richard Davalos.
Career Beginnings
Davalos started her career as a model, but soon ventured into acting. In 1999, she landed a small role as Gwen Raiden in the TV series "Angel" (1999-2004), appearing in only three episodes. She then went on to portray the character of Susan in the series "Undeclared" (2001-2002).
In 2002, Davalos participated in the project "The Coast" but had such a small role that her name was not mentioned in the credits. She also appeared in the TV series "Untitled Secret Service Project" in the same year, playing the role of Eliza Randolph. Additionally, she starred in director Charles Lyons' debut project "The Ghost of F. Scott Fitzgerald" in 2002. The short film tells the story of James Powell, a college senior who falls in love with a sophomore played by Davalos named Bess. However, James faces a problem as Bess is passionately in love with F. Scott Fitzgerald, or simply "Scotty," as she calls him. Passion leads Bess down a path that James would never have taken. Many years later, James reflects on whether he himself or Bess was the cause of their breakup. Charlie Hofheimer, known for his roles in "Black Hawk Down" (2001), "The Village" (2004), and "Medium" (2005-2008), also stars in the film. The film was presented at the Toronto Film Festival in 2002.
Success in Film
In the same year, Davalos was invited to join the project "Threat to World," which marked the directorial debut of renowned screenwriter Mark Bomback for the Sundance Institute Directors Lab in 2002. Mark, who was both the director and screenwriter, adapted a well-known novel by Richard Yates. The film tells the story of a suburban resident who complains about his boring life. Longing for passion and adventure, he makes impulsive and risky decisions, dreaming of an extraordinary, colorful life. Davalos plays the role of a young woman, the main character's girlfriend, who meets him to test the extent of her power over men.
Davalos' breakthrough in the film industry came in 2004 when she was cast as Kyra in the movie "The Chronicles of Riddick." However, prior to that, in 2003, she starred alongside Antonio Banderas in the HBO teleplay "Pancho Villa." Davalos played the role of young actress Teddy Sampson in the film, which also featured Eion Bailey, Alan Arkin, and Jim Broadbent. "Pancho Villa" won the Best TV Movie category at the Broadcast Film Critics Association's and Critics' Choice Awards.
Currently, Davalos is involved in the project "Defiance" directed by Edward Zwick, known for films such as "Legends of the Fall" (1994) and "Blood Diamond" (2006).
