Early Life and Military Career

Born in 1803 to a noble family in St. Petersburg, Karl Ivanovich Albrecht entered military service at the age of 12 as an esstandard-junker (ensign) in the Cavalier Guard Regiment.

Napoleonic Wars

During the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805, Albrecht commanded a platoon of the Life Guards Squadron. He received several saber wounds to the head and right arm but escaped capture. In 1809, he joined the Life Guards Dragoon Regiment and rose to the rank of captain.

In 1812, Albrecht commanded a combined guard cavalry regiment that fought in the battles of Volyntsy, Golovchitsy, Kokhanovichi, Beloye, Dрую, and Belmunt. He distinguished himself at Polotsk and received the Order of St. George, 4th class, for gallantry.

Pursuit of Napoleon

Albrecht's regiment pursued Napoleon's retreating armies, capturing 22 banners and 40 wagons at Kublichy. He also participated in the battles of Lyutsen and Bautzen, where he was wounded by a grenade fragment.

Later Years and Honors

In 1823, Albrecht became commander of the cavalry division of the Lithuanian Separate Corps. He received the rank of lieutenant general in 1826. Albrecht died in 1843 and was buried in the estate of Kotelskoye.
