Biography of Alexander Filatkin

Alexander Filatkin is the leader of the popular Soviet music group "Leysya, pesnya" (Let There Be Song), which was popular in the 70s and 80s. He has been through the ups and downs of the music industry, experiencing difficult times when Soviet music became less popular and the group faced internal changes.

Despite the challenges, Filatkin believes that their work as a collective is primarily about creativity, rather than making money. He has been involved in music since his childhood and even works as a bass guitar teacher at a music school to satisfy his artistic soul.

Over the years, "Leysya, pesnya" has seen many changes in its lineup, with over a hundred musicians coming and going. The band struggled after the Soviet era ended, as concert venues were taken over by commercial artists and the group's elaborate performances became less feasible. Some members of the group went on to have successful solo careers, such as Misha Shufutinsky and Nikolay Rastorguev.

Despite these challenges, "Leysya, pesnya" continues to have a dedicated fan base, with even younger audiences enjoying their performances. The group is currently working on a new album and planning a concert to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

However, the lack of financial support and exposure on radio and TV has made it difficult for the group to maintain their popularity. Filatkin acknowledges the importance of having sponsors or wealthy supporters in the music industry, but their limited resources make it challenging to compete with younger artists and "factory-made" performers.

Despite these obstacles, Filatkin remains dedicated to his music and does not see himself pursuing other business ventures. He briefly considered opening a restaurant but realized that his true passion lies in music and that he cannot focus on anything else while pursuing his artistic career.

In his free time, Filatkin enjoys activities such as ice skating, swimming, and his love for cars, particularly his old Mercedes. He also admits to being enamored by beautiful women, who inspire his creativity.

As for his relationship with his bandmates, Filatkin acknowledges that conflicts can arise, but he believes that disagreements are necessary for achieving better results. The band consists of individuals with diverse personalities, such as the humorous vocalist and pianist Orest Zorin, the technologically savvy keyboardist Sergey Bogomolov, and the serious family-oriented guitarist Alexey Chernyshev.

Despite the challenges and uncertainties of the music industry, Filatkin remains committed to his craft and values the creative process above all else. He sees his work as a musician as a way to breathe oxygen and seeks stability in the country to ensure the longevity of his career.
