Alexander Granovsky: Early Life and Education

Alexander Granovsky, a prominent Ukrainian businessman and publisher, was born on July 31, 1972, in Uman, Cherkasy Oblast. After completing high school in 1989, he enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University. In 1992, he transferred to the correspondence course for entrepreneurship, eventually graduating in 1995.

Business Career and Political Involvement

Granovsky's career in business began in the construction industry, initially in Uman before relocating to Odesa. In the early 2000s, he entered politics by serving as a member of the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada) from 2002 to 2006. He was affiliated with the United Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united) and played a role in the parliament's budget committee. In 2001, he was recognized as "Businessman of the Year" in Odesa. Although he ran for parliament again in 2006 as part of the opposition bloc "Ne Tak!," he was not re-elected.

Spiritual Affiliation and Community Involvement

Granovsky's connection with the Chabad Hasidic movement and the "Or Avner" foundation, established by Lev Leviev, began in 2001. Inspired by Rabbi Avraham Wolf of Odesa, he adopted Jewish religious practices and attended parliament wearing a kippah and tzitzit. He became the vice president of the Football Federation of Ukraine and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.

Charitable Work and Recognition

Granovsky established the charitable foundation "Shlyakhy Maybutnhoho" (Paths of the Future) and has received the Order of Merit, 3rd Degree. He is a devoted family man, married to Elena, with whom he has four children.
