Early Life and Political Beginnings
Lazar Mojsov was born into a peasant family in the village of Burilcevo, in what was then the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (CPY) in 1941 and actively participated in the Yugoslav Partisan resistance movement during World War II.
Macedonian Politics
After the war, Mojsov became a prominent figure in the newly established Socialist Republic of Macedonia within Yugoslavia. He served as Chairman of the Executive Council of the Macedonian Assembly from 1961 to 1965, overseeing the republic's economic and social development during a period of rapid growth.
Federal Roles
Mojsov's political career extended beyond Macedonia. He held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Federal Executive Council, responsible for coordinating economic policies across Yugoslavia. From 1974 to 1982, he served as a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (LCY), the ruling party.
Socialist Union of Working People
In May 1985, Mojsov was elected Chairman of the Socialist Union of Working People (SSTNY), a mass organization that represented the interests of workers, farmers, and other social groups in Yugoslavia. He held this position until May 1986.
Legacy
Lazar Mojsov played a significant role in the political and economic development of both Macedonia and Yugoslavia. His contributions to federal coordination, economic management, and the advancement of workers' rights left a lasting legacy.
