Russian Writer, Literary Critic, and Journalist
Russian writer, literary critic, and journalist who actively participated in the Russian Association of Proletarian Writers (RAPP). He published in newspapers such as "Vitebsk Izvestia" and "Kolomensky Rabochy," and later in central publications like "Rabochaya Moskva."
Education and Academic Career
In 1924, he graduated from the Literary Department of Moscow State University (MSU). In 1934, he completed his studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Institute of Red Professors. He taught at the Moscow Pedagogical Institute named after Potyomkin and at GITIS.
Military Service and World War II
During the Soviet-Finnish War, he served as a war correspondent and was awarded the "For Military Merit" medal. In the Great Patriotic War, he was a correspondent for the newspapers "Za Rodinu" of the North-Western Front and "Frontovaya Pravda" of the 2nd Belorussian Front. He ended the war as a major in the quartermaster service.
Imprisonment and Later Career
From 1949 to 1954, he was imprisoned on charges of nationalism. Upon his release, he became a professor specializing in modern French literature.
