Early Life and Education

Saveliy Kramarov, a virtuoso violinist of both Soviet and German heritage, was born in the city of Lviv (now in Ukraine). His musical journey commenced under the tutelage of Lviv pedagogue Dmitry Lekker. Subsequently, he sought higher education in Moscow, studying under Maya Glezarova, an assistant to the renowned Yuri Yankelevich. In 1965, Kramarov enrolled in the prestigious Moscow State Conservatory under the esteemed tutelage of Leonid Kogan.

Conservatory Years and Early Career

After graduating from the conservatory in 1970, Kramarov briefly served as an assistant to his mentor, Leonid Kogan. His exceptional talent was recognized in 1973 when he triumphed with a first prize at the Paganini International Violin Competition. Kramarov then embarked on a successful career in Minsk, where he held the position of first concertmaster of the Minsk Chamber Orchestra and taught at the Minsk Conservatory.

International Renown

In the 1990s, Kramarov decided to emigrate to Europe, where his career continued to flourish. Since 1995, he has been an active member of the trio "ALKAN." He has also held teaching posts at the Higher School of Music in Enschede, the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, and the Detmold University of Music, where he was appointed professor in 1997.

Late Career and Legacy

Kramarov's reputation as a master violinist led to his appointment as professor at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. He continues to inspire students and audiences alike with his exceptional talent and dedication to the art of violin playing.
