Early Life and EducationVladimir Vasilievich Lapauri was born in Moscow, Russia, on January 10, 1925. His father, Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Lapauri, was a native of Tbilisi, Georgia, while his mother, Rimma Andreyevna Vladimirova, came from a family of Moscow citizens. From a young age, Lapauri showed a passion for ballet and pursued his training at the Moscow Choreographic School, graduating in 1944 under the tutelage of Nikolai Ivanovich Tarasov.
Career at the Bolshoi Theatre
Upon graduating, Lapauri joined the Bolshoi Theatre in October 1944 as a soloist. For over two decades, he graced the stage of the Bolshoi, showcasing his exceptional talent in more than twenty roles. In addition to his performances, Lapauri's reputation as a choreographer emerged in the early 1960s with the groundbreaking productions of "Lesnaya Pesnya" and "Podporuchik Kizhe" at the Bolshoi Theatre.
