Alexander Lominsky: A Unique Voice in the Retro Music Scene

Alexander Lominsky is a singer who has achieved paradoxical success in his career. Despite not aiming to be trendy, he often finds himself ahead of the curve, especially in the growing popularity of retro sound. Retro music is not just about nostalgic arrangements; it is also characterized by honest, open, and emotional performances. Lominsky possesses a unique voice, which sets him apart from others. From a young age, his voice stood out, particularly in terms of power.

At the age of 15, Alexander decided to pursue singing seriously and sought lessons from the renowned jazz vocal coach Tatyana Boyeva in Odessa. It was a challenging task to become one of her students, but a chance encounter with Boyeva, who happened to be a childhood friend of Lominsky's mother, made it possible. Years of intense training transformed Lominsky's vocal abilities, turning his voice into a precise musical instrument with a wide range and vibrant overtones. His forceful energy became a solid foundation, while his softness became an effective tool to captivate women from ages 15 to 50.

Lominsky's appearance, resembling a macho heartbreaker, has led to numerous rumors about his conquests of women in the capital. However, he keeps his secrets well-guarded and does not indulge in discussing such matters openly. With a cheeky sense of humor, Lominsky jokes about his resemblance to Antonio Banderas, saying, "We are indeed similar, not only in appearance but also in life—he acts in movies and occasionally sings, while I have been singing my whole life and occasionally appear on screen."

In addition to his own music videos, Lominsky has appeared in various commercials due to his distinctive appearance and voice. He does not shy away from such opportunities, considering them to be part of his profession. Lominsky acknowledges that experienced professionals in advertising are often seen more frequently than those in show business, and interacting with high-class specialists is always interesting for him.

Lominsky's passion for professionalism sometimes becomes overwhelming. He immerses himself fully in every aspect of music creation, show preparation, and direction. Over time, he has accumulated a vast knowledge base in these areas. According to him, when necessary, he can replace technicians, editors, sound and lighting engineers, and even write lyrics, music, scripts, and direct performances. This diverse skill set has become his specialty, as recognized by his university degree in cultural and mass event directorship from the Kyiv National University of Culture.

As an artist, Lominsky is often described as having an explosive temperament, but he prefers not to dwell on it. He believes that any ordinary man can lose his temper under certain circumstances. However, due to Lominsky's request to exclude details about his wild youth and 17 scars on his head, it is advised not to reference this in interviews, based on this press release.

To provide a glimpse into Lominsky's background, it is crucial to mention his childhood. Born in the vibrant city of Odessa, his adventurous spirit went against his family's professional traditions. Both of his parents were lawyers and military professionals who had no desire for their son to pursue any other path. However, a business trip to Germany for several years changed everything. To occupy his free time, Lominsky's parents enrolled him in a music school to learn the piano. Little did they know that this decision would set a delayed bomb, which would explode years later.

Contrary to expectations, the music school failed to instill a deep aversion to music in Lominsky. Instead, upon returning to Odessa, he formed a rock band with friends called "Cabinet Ministers" and began rehearsing. Performing original compositions and convincing covers of Western hits of the time allowed the 12-year-old boys to earn their first money by performing at various events and celebrations. Gradually, their music evolved from "a room behind the auditorium" with guitar riffs to funk and rap compositions. The band's name changed to Lomy Lom, bestowed upon Alexander in the early 1990s. This eponymous musical group, initially consisting of three DJs, quickly gained popularity in Odessa. Lominsky treasures the recognition he received in his hometown, as he believes the local audience is highly demanding of their own artists.

By the mid-1990s, Lomy Lom and the Project transformed into a classic boy band and relocated their base of operations to Kyiv. The five members, representing different nationalities, dressed in black and yellow suits, conquered stadiums across Ukraine. In 1997, their debut album was released, followed by a second album two years later, which received a double reissue of the first. Lomy Lom and the Project's music was licensed by the "Soyuz" studio for sale in Russia, while United Colors Of Benetton offered the group a sponsorship contract. In 2000, following the advice of his neighbor Konstantin Meladze, Lominsky disbanded the group and arrived in Moscow with solo material he had been working on for several years.

Approaching the most prominent producers of that time, Lominsky received compliments but faced the familiar question about funding. Without financial resources, the future seemed less promising. In comparison to the five years of total success and luck he had experienced, being a singer in post-crisis Moscow without work or investment opportunities appeared grim. Nevertheless, Lominsky never gave up. He continued writing and performing his own songs. In the past year, he has released several music videos and composed and recorded dozens of songs. He continues to refine them, striving for perfection from his perspective. Ultimately, Lominsky focuses on what he does best—singing and writing for his audience. For him, it is not just a show; it is his real life.

As a citizen of the world with a permanent address between heaven and earth, Lominsky has had a diverse journey. He spent his childhood in Germany, adolescence in Odessa, and lively youth in Kyiv. In recent years, he has been frequently spotted in Moscow. Lominsky is a graduate of the Kyiv National University of Culture, holding a degree in cultural and mass event directorship.

He is a traveler and a professional adventurer, finding excitement even in his busy schedule. Lominsky is also a music lover and collector, transporting over 1000 vinyl records wherever he goes. He explains his love for vinyl, saying, "A new record of the first press is like the right of the first night. I love being astonished by classical albums, just as our contemporaries were thirty years ago."

Lominsky considers non-intrusiveness to be his main quality, which often leads to conflicts with his own press service. He was born under the zodiac sign of Tank, and his nature knows no barriers—nothing can stop him from charging ahead in life.

In conclusion, the making of an entertainer is a combination of talent, charisma, and luck. In Alexander Lominsky's case, there is no doubt about the first two factors, but the presence of the third is often questionable. It remains to be seen how fortunate he will be as he takes risks and follows his path. Despite the grandeur of his profession, for him, it is just a show, while for others, it is his real life.
