His parents, originally from Poland, immigrated to the United Kingdom before making their way to Canada in the year of his birth.

Ice Road Trucking Career
In 1972, Alex started working as a truck driver for the Mckyntire Porcupine Mine located in Grande Cache, Alberta, Canada, and he continues to work there to this day. It was during his time as a truck driver that he gained recognition as a legendary participant in the reality show "Ice Road Truckers," which documents the daily lives of truck drivers who transport their goods over frozen ice.

When the first season of the show aired in 2007, Alex celebrated his 26th anniversary as an ice road trucker. Known for his unpredictable nature and sense of humor, Alex constantly entertained his fellow drivers through CB radio waves with his jokes and songs, showcasing his natural talent for comedy.
Personal Life
Alex has been married to his wife Louisa for 40 years, and together they have 11 children and 10 grandchildren. They reside in Yellowknife, a town located in the northern part of Canada.
