Early Life and Education
Born in Smolensk in 1921, Genrikh Raizer was a Soviet scientist and engineer. In 1942, he graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Chemical Machine Engineering.
Scientific Career
Raizer began his scientific career at Research Institute 6 (1942-1946) and then at Design Bureau 11 (now known as the Federal Nuclear Center VNIEF). In 1955, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences.
From 1955, Raizer worked in the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Technical Physics (VNIIFT), where he specialized in the development of atomic and hydrogen bombs. He eventually became the chief designer of the design bureau at VNIIFT.
Political Career
In 1967, Raizer was appointed Deputy Minister of Medium Machine Building for the Nuclear Weapons Complex (1967-1988). He played a key role in the Soviet nuclear weapons program.
Academic Achievements
In 1965, Raizer was awarded the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences. He made significant contributions to the field of nuclear weapons design and development.
Death and Legacy
Genrikh Raizer passed away and was buried in the Kuntsevo Cemetery in Moscow. His work has had a profound impact on the Soviet and Russian nuclear weapons programs.
