Her modeling career began in 1996 at Savrox Models in Odessa. Over the next seven years, she achieved remarkable success, winning several prestigious beauty pageants, including Miss Tourism Europe 2000, Miss Ukraine 2001, and Miss Tourism World 2002.

Nikolaenko represented Ukraine in the Miss World 2001 pageant in South Africa, finishing among the top ten most beautiful women in the world. She also participated in the Miss Universe 2004 pageant in Ecuador.
