Alexandra Bradshaw, a Canadian-American artist, was born in Nova Scotia on April 20, 1888. Her family later relocated to California, where she spent the majority of her life.

Early Education and Training

From 1907 to 1908, Bradshaw attended the California State Normal School, earning a diploma for her artwork. In 1914, she pursued further studies at the same institution in Los Angeles.

Bradshaw's artistic journey continued with studies at Stanford University under the guidance of Andre L'Hote. She also received instruction from Rex Slinkard and Hans Hofmann at Columbia University.

Teaching Career and Artistic Achievements

In 1917, Bradshaw became an instructor and head of the Fine Arts Department at the Fresno State Normal School. Her notable contributions include the donation of her watercolor painting "Trolling in Three Arch Bay" to the British Red Cross in 1940. The painting was acquired by Mrs. C. Charles Clarke of Laguna Beach. Bradshaw established a summer home in Three Arch Bay during her tenure as department chair at Fresno State College.

Later Life and Legacy

Alexandra Bradshaw passed away on September 23, 1981, in Whittier, California. Her artworks continue to be showcased in the California Art Club Collection in Newport Beach. Bradshaw's legacy as a dedicated artist and educator has left a lasting impact on the art community.
