A Serbian Historian of Russian Ancestry
Milosh Mladenović was a Serbian historian of Russian descent. His Serbian ancestors emigrated from the Habsburg Empire to Russia in the 18th century.
Early Education and Career
Mladenović graduated from a gymnasium in Kiev in 1909 and earned a degree in history and philosophy from Petrograd University in 1914. He served as an assistant professor in the history department at Petrograd University from 1914 to 1918.
In 1918, he became an associate professor at Kiev University. He emigrated to Yugoslavia in 1920 and earned a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Ljubljana in 1924.
Academic Work
Mladenović later became a professor at the University of Skopje. He was the author of numerous studies on historical and literary topics, including works on Archpriest Avvakum, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Russian history, the Russian Revolution, and the histories of Czechoslovakia and Poland.
Fate During World War II
Mladenović taught at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje until 1941. His activities during World War II are unknown. After the Soviet Army occupied Belgrade, he was deported to the Soviet Union and perished in a labor camp.
