Early Life and Education
Born into a merchant family in Vologda, Alexei Alexandrovich Gal'kin received his education at the Demidov Law Institute and the Imperial Saint Petersburg University.
Legal Career
Gal'kin became an assistant attorney and a member of the consultation of attorneys at the Vologda District Court.
Journalism and Publishing
Gal'kin worked as a journalist and published newspapers such as "Severnaya Zemlya" and "Vologodskiy Listok." He was actively involved in public affairs and served as a member of the Society for the Relief of Needy Students in Vologda's public schools.
Public Service
Gal'kin's public service included membership in the Vologda Society for the Study of the Northern Region, the Northern Circle of Art Lovers, and the Commission for the Improvement of Vologda. He was elected to the City Duma in 1913 and served as chairman of its theater commission.
Death and Legacy
Gal'kin died tragically of starvation in besieged Leningrad during World War II. He was buried at the Piskarevskoye Cemetery.
