Early Life and Education

Soviet weapons designer Sergei Vetoshkin was born on March 23, 1920, in the village of Rameno, now located in the Mosalsky district of Kaluga Oblast. He completed his education at the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1941.

Career in Weapons Development

During World War II, from 1941 to 1946, Vetoshkin served as deputy chief designer at Plant No. 314 of the People's Commissariat of Ammunition (NKV) in Mednogorsk. Subsequently, from March 16, 1946, to April 1, 1965, he worked at the NKV Design Bureau (later known as JSC "Military-Industrial Corporation "CBM"). His roles ranged from group leader to first deputy chief and chief designer.

Contribution to Mortar Development

Vetoshkin played a significant role in the development of mortar weapons. He was actively involved in the design and production of mortar systems at the NKV Design Bureau.

Academic Career

On April 30, 1965, Vetoshkin transitioned to academia, becoming a docent at the Department of Theoretical Mechanics at the Kolomna branch of the All-Union Correspondence Polytechnic Institute.

Later Years and Recognition

Vetoshkin passed away on April 26, 1985, in Kolomna. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Stalin Prize, Second Degree, in 1951 for his work in the field of military technology.
