American actress Alexis Bledel is best known for her roles in the television series "Gilmore Girls" (2000-2008) and the films "Tuck Everlasting" (2002), "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" (2005), and "Sin City" (2005). In her professional career, Bledel does not use her first name and is credited as Alexis Bledel. She was born in Houston, Texas to Martin Bledel, who is originally from Argentina, and Nanette Blake, who is from Mexico. Spanish was Bledel's native language.
Early Career and Education
When Bledel was eight years old, her parents enrolled her in a community theater to help her overcome shyness. The aspiring young actress performed in productions of "Our Town" and "The Wizard of Oz". It was at a local shopping center that she caught the attention of a talent agent, and she began working as a model. Bledel attended St. Agnes Academy in Houston. She studied at the Page Parkes Center for Modeling and Acting and spent a year at New York University, specializing in film studies, before landing the role of Rory in the series "Gilmore Girls".
