Establishment of the DKG School
In 1912, Klingenberg embarked on a momentous journey to the United States. Together with conductor Herman Dossenbach, he founded a music college in Rochester, New York. The school, initially known as the DKG College, drew its name from the initials of Klingenberg, Dossenbach, and organist-choirmaster Oscar Garisson.
Association with George Eastman
In 1918, the DKG Institute was sold to George Eastman, an influential inventor, businessman, and philanthropist. Eastman's acquisition paved the way for the establishment of the Eastman School of Music.
Leadership of the Eastman School of Music
Klingenberg assumed the role of the first director of the Eastman School of Music in 1921. However, his tenure was short-lived. Differences in perspectives on musical education between him and the school's board of trustees led to his resignation just two years later.
