Early Life and Career

Alfréð Finnbogason is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a forward for German club FC Augsburg and the Iceland national team. He began his career with Icelandic clubs Fjölnir and Breiðablik before making his professional debut with Breiðablik in 2007.

Club Career

Breiðablik (2007-2010)

Finnbogason's professional debut came on June 30, 2008, in a match against Keflavík. He scored his first goal for the club on September 13, 2008, against Fram. During his time with Breiðablik, he won the Icelandic Premier League title and the Icelandic Cup in 2010. He was also named the Icelandic Young Player of the Year in 2009 and finished as the league's top scorer in 2010 alongside Atli Björnsson and Gilles Mbang Ondo.

Lokeren (2010-2012)

In November 2010, Finnbogason joined Belgian club Lokeren. He made his debut on January 23, 2011, against Gent. He scored his first goal for Lokeren on February 12, 2011, against Charleroi. Despite limited playing time, he scored two goals in three appearances in the Belgian Cup.

Helsingborg (2012)

From March to August 2012, Finnbogason played on loan at Swedish club Helsingborg. He helped them win the Swedish Super Cup before returning to Lokeren.

Heerenveen (2012-2014)

He then joined Dutch club Heerenveen at the start of the 2012/13 season. He scored a brace against Ajax in his second match for the club and became the Eredivisie's top scorer for the 2013/14 season.

Real Sociedad (2014-2018)

In the summer of 2014, Finnbogason moved to Spanish club Real Sociedad, signing a four-year contract. He scored his first goal for the club in a pre-season friendly against Ajax.

FC Augsburg (2018-Present)

After four seasons with Real Sociedad, Finnbogason joined German club FC Augsburg in 2018.

International Career

Finnbogason made his debut for the Iceland national team in 2010 and has represented them at various international tournaments, including the 2016 UEFA European Championship and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
