Early Life and Career

Alfred Gomis was born in Senegal but subsequently moved to Italy with his family. He has two brothers, Lys and Maurice, who are also professional footballers. Gomis began his youth career at Torino F.C.

On May 26, 2012, he made his Serie B debut for Torino against Albinoleffe.

Loan Spells and Return to Torino

In search of playing time, Gomis was loaned to Crotone in 2013 where he became the starting goalkeeper. He was loaned out again to Avellino 1912 in 2014 and to Cesena in 2015. Despite his impressive performance at Cesena, he returned to Torino and was loaned to Bologna in 2016.

Breakthrough at SPAL

After a hand injury at Bologna, Gomis joined SPAL on loan in 2017. He made his Serie A debut against Lazio on August 20, 2017.

International Career

Gomis initially expressed his desire to represent Italy, receiving call-ups to the Italian youth teams but never making an appearance. In 2017, he opted to play for Senegal, his country of birth, and made his debut against South Africa in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.

Current Club and Senegal National Team

Gomis currently plays for SPAL and has been a key member of the Senegalese national team, representing them in major tournaments such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
