Early Life and EducationAlfred Kremer was an Austrian orientalist and diplomat born on April 17, 1828, in Vienna. He studied oriental languages at the University of Vienna and later became a professor of Arabic.
Diplomatic Career
In addition to his academic pursuits, Kremer held several diplomatic positions throughout his career. He served as consul in Cairo, a member of the International Danube Commission, and general consul in Beirut. In 1880-1881, he was appointed Minister of Commerce for Austria.
