Ali Hassan: A Pakistani Boy Battling Neuroblastoma
Ali Hassan, a seven-year-old Pakistani boy from a remote village in eastern Pakistan, is suffering from a massive tumor that has engulfed his eye and rapidly spread across his face. Ali, who is unable to see from his right eye due to the huge tumor, experiences increasing difficulty in breathing and speaking as the tumor grows. His father, Muhammad Mansha, 38, has desperately searched for treatment for his son in Lahore, a city approximately 207 km away from their home in Pakpattan, Punjab.
A Long Search for Answers
When Ali was just four months old, multiple doctors tried to diagnose and treat him, but they were all baffled by the cause of the terrifying tumor. It was not until 2017 that Ali was finally diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an undifferentiated tumor that affects approximately 100 children in the UK each year. Most of the cases involve children under the age of five. Neuroblastoma is the second most common solid tumor in children, accounting for 8% of all childhood cancers, according to Macmillan Cancer Support. The tumor consists of neuroblast cells and is typically found in either one of the two adrenal glands in the child's abdomen or in the nerve tissue that runs along the spinal cord, neck, chest, abdomen, or pelvis.
Treatment and a Helping Hand
The choice of treatment for Ali depends on his age, the size and location of the tumor, and whether it has metastasized or not. However, the expensive treatment needed for Ali was offered by Amir Khan, a British boxing star with Pakistani roots. Khan, a former world champion, learned about Ali's difficult situation through the website 'MailOnline'. He then took to his official Facebook page to gather more information about Ali. Soon, Muhammad Mansha received the news that Khan was willing to allocate funds from his charitable foundation to finance the surgery to remove the terrifying tumor from Ali's face.

Amir Khan, a professional boxer born in Bolton, takes great pride in his Pakistani heritage. His charitable foundation, established in 2014, aims to help children and teenagers from the poorest countries in the world. The foundation primarily focuses on providing clean drinking water and ensuring access to quality education. Khan's heartfelt message on Facebook received over 11,000 likes, and he received hundreds of comments from compassionate individuals who expressed their willingness to assist the young boy.
A Hopeful Future
Muhammad Mansha, who earns less than £3 a day, stated, "Amir Khan assured us that he would provide financial assistance in any amount. He also said he would visit us. We hope that our son will soon have a normal life." Ali is currently in a hospital in Lahore, where Khan's manager, Anwar Ahmed, visits him regularly, fulfilling Khan's request. Ahmed mentioned that they are awaiting the results of further medical examinations, and if treatment is not feasible in Pakistan, they will transport Ali to another country with more advanced medical facilities.
Amir Khan has instructed Ahmed to stay with Muhammad and Ali and keep him informed about the progress.
