Childhood and Adolescence

Alicia Silverstone was born on October 4, 1976, in San Francisco, into a typical American family with Jewish roots. Her father worked as a real estate agent, and her mother was a former flight attendant. In a family that followed Jewish traditions, Alicia was the youngest of four children. They all attended synagogue once a week and went through the bat mitzvah ceremony. Alicia's childhood was no different from that of most American teenagers, except for the confusion with her name. Everyone called the future actress Alicia in an American manner, and she constantly had to emphasize that she was Alicia. Silverstone dreamed of becoming an actress from an early age. She often recalled an episode when she climbed onto a coffee table as a little girl and danced to the song "Physical" in front of her entire family. Although her parents did not approve of such behavior, they agreed that their daughter definitely had creative potential. At the age of five, Alicia suddenly decided that her real mother was Olivia Newton-John, a popular pop singer at the time. Despite his natural strictness, Alicia's father indulged her in everything. Alicia wanted to be photographed in a swimsuit like a real model. Her father took a series of pictures and sent them to several modeling agencies. There was no response for a long time, but then invitations for cooperation suddenly started coming. Thus, at the age of six, Alicia entered the advertising business, combining her work with education. She started posing not only for fashion magazines but also appeared in television commercials. There, she was quickly noticed and invited to the show "Domino's Pizza" and later to the TV series "The Wonder Years". After filming the series, Alicia began to be called "The Girl of Dreams".

Beginning of her Career

However, Hollywood was not in a hurry to embrace the young beauty. Alicia endured failure after failure at auditions but did not give up. And, as it turned out, she did the right thing. Luck was on her side. Silverstone met then relatively unknown Liv Tyler, who was the daughter of Steve Tyler, the frontman of the band Aerosmith. The famous father invited both girls to star in his new music video. After appearing in three videos "Cryamazy", which were shown not only in the USA but worldwide, Alicia Silverstone gained incredible popularity. She was now known far beyond America and was called "The Aerosmith Girl". At the age of 15, Alicia Silverstone was already self-sufficient, thus becoming independent of her parents. But to build a career, she had to give up a lot, including education. Alicia never finished high school.
