Early Life and Career

Olha Kharlan was born on September 4, 1993, in the city of Netishyn, Ukraine. As a young athlete, she trained under the guidance of renowned fencing coach Valeriy Shturbabin. Later, she honed her skills under the tutelage of his son, Oleg Shturbabin.

International Success

Kharlan burst onto the international fencing scene in 2013 when she won a gold medal at the Junior World Championships. The following year, she ascended to new heights, claiming the World Championship title in Budapest and earning a silver medal at the European Championships. In 2014, she added a bronze medal to her collection at the World Championships.

European Games and World Championships

In 2015, Kharlan's exceptional talent was further showcased at the inaugural European Games in Baku, where she captured a gold medal in the women's sabre individual event. She also secured a silver medal at the World Championships that year and a bronze medal at the European Championships.

Olympic Glory

The pinnacle of Kharlan's career came at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. As part of the Ukrainian women's sabre team, she led her country to an unforgettable victory over South Korea in the final, claiming the coveted gold medal with a remarkable score of 45:42.
