Allison Tolman
Early Life and Education
Allison Cara Tolman was born on November 18, 1981, in Houston, Texas, to Davis Nichols and Valerie Tolman (née Clohessy). She has an older sister, Elissa, and two older brothers, Bill and Aaron. The family moved to England when Tolman was a few months old and lived there until she was four years old. They then spent the next five years in Oklahoma and West Texas before settling in Sugar Land, Texas.
Tolman has always been drawn to performing. She began taking acting lessons at the Fort Bend Community Theatre at the age of ten. In 2000, she graduated from Clements High School and went on to study at Baylor University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004.
Career
Tolman began her acting career in the mid-2000s, voicing characters in the English-dubbed versions of "Beck" and "Belle." She made her on-screen debut in 2006 with a brief appearance in the cult TV series "Prison Break." Over the next few years, she had small roles in shows such as "Desperate Housewives" and "Fargo."
Tolman's breakthrough role came in 2013, when she was cast as Molly Solverson in the first season of "Fargo." For her performance, she was nominated for an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award, and she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or Miniseries.
Since then, Tolman has appeared in a variety of film and television projects, including "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (2018), "Castle Rock" (2018), "Good Girls" (2018-2021), and "Why Women Kill" (2021).
