Alistair Carter: Professional Snooker Player
Alistair Carter is an English professional snooker player and finalist of the 2008 World Championship. He joined the professional snooker circuit in 1996 and quickly made a name for himself. In 1999, Carter secured his first victory at the Benson & Hedges Championship, which earned him a spot in the prestigious Masters tournament.

Throughout his career, Carter consistently performed well, reaching the semi-finals of the Grand Prix in the same year. However, it wasn't until 2007, at the Malta Cup, that he reached another semi-final of a ranking tournament.
Carter's breakthrough came at the 2008 World Championship. He displayed exceptional skills, defeating renowned players such as Shaun Murphy and Peter Ebdon. During this tournament, he achieved his first maximum break of 147 points. This not only marked Carter's first World Championship final but also his first final in a ranking tournament.
Despite a valiant effort, Carter ultimately lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan with a score of 18-8. Nevertheless, his successful performance in the tournament allowed him to break into the top 8 players for the first time.
