Israeli Chess Prodigy to Grandmaster
Early SuccessesBorn in Israel, this exceptional chess talent emerged at a young age. He excelled in multiple prestigious competitions for cadets and juniors. In 1980, he claimed second place at the World Cadet Championship. His remarkable performances continued with second and fourth place finishes at the European Junior Championships in 1981/82 and 1982/83, respectively.
International Recognition
As his prowess grew, so did his international presence. He participated in the World Chess Olympiads in 1982, 1984, and 1988. His most notable achievement came in 1984, where he garnered 9 points out of 13 on the second board.
In individual tournaments, he achieved impressive results in various locations. He secured third place in Beersheba (1982, 1986, 1988), first place in Timisoara (1983), fifth place in Netanya (1983), and first place in the Biel Neben Turnier (1985). His consistent performances also included fifth-seventh place in Hastings (1985/86) and second-third place in Polanica-Zdroj (1987) and Tel Aviv (1988). Notably, he secured fourth-sixth place in Budapest (1989).
