Biography of Álvaro Negredo
Álvaro Negredo is a Spanish football player who currently plays as a forward for Sevilla Football Club. He is known among fans as "La fiera de Vallecas" (The beast of Vallecas). Although most of his career is associated with Real Madrid, he never managed to establish himself as a regular in the first team.
Born in Madrid, Negredo started his professional football career with the local team, Rayo Vallecano. He made his debut in early 2005 and then moved to the Real Madrid subsidiary team, Real Madrid Castilla, in the summer of the same year. Negredo had two successful years with the club, improving his skills as a forward and scoring eighteen goals in league matches during his last season. Unfortunately, his team was relegated from the second division.
Despite not getting much playing time, Negredo impressed the head coach, Fabio Capello, and was called up for several matches for Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey. However, he spent most of his time on the bench. In July 2007, Negredo was sold to Almería, a newcomer to the Spanish league, but Real Madrid retained the right to repurchase the player. He made his debut for Almería on August 26th in a notable match against Deportivo de La Coruña. On February 2nd, 2008, he even faced his old teammates. In a successful match against Sevilla on April 19th, Negredo scored two goals but also conceded a penalty.
Negredo ended the season as Almería's top scorer with thirteen goals, ranking eighth overall in Andalusia. In the 2008-2009 season, he scored five goals in the first six matches, with a memorable goal in the ninety-fifth minute against Recreativo de Huelva on September 28th, 2009. In the following year, Negredo had a successful match against Valencia, scoring another goal and further elevating his status among Spanish players. He scored a total of nineteen goals in the season, while the team's performance declined.
In the summer of 2009, Real Madrid exercised their right to repurchase Negredo, although the exact amount of the contract was not disclosed. He returned to the first team on July 10th, 2009. Real Zaragoza also tried to acquire Negredo, but he declined the offer. Sevilla managed to sign Negredo for fifteen million euros, with Real Madrid retaining the right to repurchase the player in the first two years.
Negredo made his debut for Sevilla on August 31st, 2009, in a match against Valencia. He came on as a substitute in the thirty-seventh second of the game. In his second appearance, Negredo scored his first goal against Osasuna, and Sevilla won 2-0. Overall, Negredo had a somewhat inconsistent performance in his first season with Sevilla. He went through a goalless streak in twelve consecutive matches but ended it on May 2nd, 2010, with a productive substitute appearance against Atlético Madrid.
Despite being dropped from the main squad, Negredo made a significant impact as a substitute and contributed to Sevilla's success during his time with the club.
