Early Life and Career
Alyson Renae Michalka was born in 1989 in Seattle, Washington. Along with her sister, Amanda, Alyson sang in the choir and studied piano from a young age. At the age of 13, she picked up the guitar. Amanda Joy joined her sister at age 11, and together they formed the pop duo "Aly & Aj."
Rise to Fame
In 2005, Aly & Aj released their debut album, "Rush," which went platinum by 2007. The album featured the songs "No One" and "Do You Believe In Magic," both featured in Disney films. The sisters also starred in a Disney television series and participated in various Disney Records projects.
Continued Success
In 2006, Aly & Aj released their album "Acoustic Hearts of Winter," featuring traditional Christmas songs. The following year, they released their second studio album, "Insomniatic," which included the hit single "Potential Breakup Song." The song was also remixed by Japanese artist Sugiurumn, with whom the sisters collaborated for a performance on Japanese television.
Later Career and Upcoming Projects
In 2008, Aly & Aj contributed a cover of "We're an American Band" to Randy Jackson's Music Club album. They toured theme parks in the summer of that year. They are currently working on their third studio album, which is expected to feature 14 songs and a shift in their singing style, with each sister carrying their own vocals.
