Early Life and Education

Amadou Ba was born on May 17, 1961, in Dakar, Senegal. He received his primary education in Medina and went on to earn a degree in economics from the University of Dakar.

Political Career

Ba's political career began in the 2000s when he was elected as Mayor of Pikine, a suburb of Dakar. He served in this role until 2012 when he was appointed as Minister of Finance and Economy under President Macky Sall.

Ministerial Roles

During his tenure as Minister of Finance and Economy, Ba implemented several economic reforms that contributed to Senegal's economic growth. From 2013 to 2019, he held key positions on international financial institutions, including the African Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank.

Prime Minister

On September 17, 2022, Ba was appointed as Prime Minister of Senegal, succeeding Mohamed Boune Abdallah Dionne. As Prime Minister, he has been responsible for leading the government's policies and overseeing the implementation of major infrastructure projects.

Presidential Candidate

On September 9, 2023, Ba was chosen as the candidate for the ruling Benno Bokk Yaakaar (BBY) coalition in the 2024 presidential election. He is expected to face a strong challenge from opposition candidates.
