Amanda Roberts: A Journey of Weight Loss and Skin Removal
From Food Addiction to Weight Loss SuccessAmanda Roberts, a 23-year-old from Temecula, California, once weighed over 320 pounds due to a severe addiction to takeout and sugary treats. In 2014, she underwent gastric bypass surgery and lost nearly half her weight in just 18 months.
Excess Skin Weighs Her Down
Despite her successful weight loss, Amanda now faces a new challenge: 42 pounds of excess skin hanging loosely on her abdomen, arms, and legs. Determined to lose more weight and live a healthier lifestyle, Amanda launched a crowdfunding campaign to pay for skin removal surgery.
Overcoming Emotional Barriers
Amanda admits that she is still self-conscious about her loose skin, but she refuses to let it hold her back. She says, "I'm not ashamed of how I look, but the excess weight makes it hard to move around. I'm aiming to reach my goal weight of 140-150 pounds, and getting rid of the 42 pounds of excess skin will make it happen."
Instagram Page Inspires Others
In 2014, Amanda started an Instagram page to document her weight loss journey and inspire others to overcome their own unhealthy habits. She says, "I wanted to empower other women by showing them what I was going through. My life has changed in so many ways, and I wanted to share my transformation through photos."
Support from Family and Friends
Amanda credits her 24-year-old fiancé, Bryce Simmons, who has lost nearly 30 pounds himself, for his unwavering support. Despite having to postpone their wedding due to financial constraints, they remain focused on their health and happiness.
Looking to the Future
Amanda is hopeful for the future and believes that her upcoming surgery will give her the body she has always dreamed of. She says, "I have a new life now. I can finally walk the dog in the park, chase after my daughter Talia, and go to the gym."
Embracing the Journey
While Amanda acknowledges that she will always have some loose skin from her pregnancy and obesity, she is accepting of her body and the journey she has been on. She says, "I can't believe it when I look at pictures of myself before. I look like a completely different person. Now I am literally half the size I used to be."
